A Battle of Will

take exception to the carnall
cross the meridian, cross the metaphore. ease
against it

cross and ease

into its sex of secrets, into the flash-collapse of flesh
shackled | taxed. they belong to the mental, then they belong
to the minde — the habit sociable once now a starry drought | dry plain | desperation

the body kneads

the body churns itself sour, hooks, captures, dips itself lower
then clips itself, snips its thickness, its girth
then traps | is entrapped | is entrapment

needs are a hollow sex of things
a matter | a concern | an inanimate beast

extract the head
the metal tack from wherewith its girth pricks
the soul | the solitary bead of heart
the meat of hearth
the unsung essence
the beat
